The Pipeline Training Program focuses on upgrading essential skills for the successful operation of pipeline equipment. Hands-on training is emphasized.
Although prior pipeline experience is not required, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the operation of basic construction equipment and must be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to work in the pipeline industry. Apprentices who have relevant skills are welcome to attend. Attendees are evaluated at the beginning of the course.
Classes follow a schedule of six days per week, 10 hours each day. There is a classroom training each morning followed by hands-on field training. In the classroom, students will get a clear understanding of the techniques to be practiced that day through the use of videos, photos and 3D animation. Field training simulates the tasks performed on a pipeline job as realistically as possible. Classes, dates and locations are provided below.
Instructors are experts. They are full-time, professional pipeline operators who work in the field during the construction season and teach courses during the off-season. Participants will be provided $50.00/day per diem, lodging and mileage up to 600 miles round trip.
Class sizes are limited. If you are interested in the Pipeline Training Classes, please contact Local 406’s Main Office in New Orleans for an application by calling 504-241-1311.
